Welcome to The Southend Band

The Official Town Civic Band

Specialising in organised noise

Southend's immensely popular and forward looking brass band has a rich tradition, dating back over a century.

Since 1985, Southend Band has boasted the sobriquet, "Official Town Band" and nowadays is a community partner in the Southend Music Education Hub.

Under the leadership of David Clark, Southend Band rehearse at St Peter's Church Youth Hall, on the corner of Eastbourne Grove and Carlingford Drive (quite near the Hospital), every Thursday evening at 7:45 pm. Disabled access to the band hall is good.

Southend Band's training and development group, Next Step Brass, also convenes on Thursdays (but during term times only) from 6:30 pm until 7:30 pm. Whilst principally set up to foster young brass musicians, NSB has a broad remit and seeks to encourage anyone who wishes to hone their brass-playing skills in an ensemble setting. Teachers are welcome to encourage their pupils by playing alongside them, as are parents with their children.

Vacancies

Southend Band has particular vacancies at present for cornet and tuba players, but all brass musicians can expect a warm welcome, as will casual visitors.
