Carl's Christmas request

There's little doubt that Southend Band's Christmas Singalongs at the Bandstand have become something of an institution. Starting back in 2008, (when the Bandstand was first resurrected in Priory Park) the Civic brass band has turned out whatever the weather, on the Sunday before Christmas, to entertain those brave enough to join them.

This year saw perhaps the biggest crowd of the last twelve years, estimated at over 700.

Among the enthusiastic audience, none was happier to be there than the Band's greatest fan, Carl. As a special treat, (because he'd recently been so very poorly) the Band arranged to play Carl's favourite carol, "The Twelve Days of Christmas".

To our perfect delight, two young film-makers generously agreed at very short notice to film it for him - and this is the stunning result.

We think that Jonathan and Marilena have done us all proud, and have perfectly captured the spirit of the occasion. What do you think?
